HBI is fully capable of identifying sources of capital and closing deals; the size of the deal is not as important as its quality. HBI places considerable emphasis on the character and reputation of the principals in a deal on all sides of the equation, and the international nature of capital is recognized.
Shortly after commencing technology distribution, the demand for capital to finance the distribution activities, and more importantly, to finance effective application, became apparent to HBI. Consequently, HBI diversified into the development of capital generation intelligence, focusing on merchant banks in Western Europe and Asia, and taxation incentives.
The experience has been that the financing of a deal can happen very quickly, or can evolve over a long period of time. The pace is not predictable, and thus HBI has always relied on working from first principles of corporate finance and communications.
